Obama - 'The United States is One of The Largest Muslim Countries in The World'

In a recent interview Obama said that the United States is one of the largest Muslim countries in the world. This is striking most people as bizarre because our comparative Muslim population relative to the rest of the world is no where near the top regardless of if you use total number of people or percentage of population.

I do not think he was merely saying that the United States is one of the largest countries over all and we have Muslims in out country; hence we are one of the largest Muslim countries in the world. More likely it was either a significant calculation error or a strange misstatement.
