The Day The Republic Died - Obama Announces Executive Amnesty

The death of the Republic line is not a rhetorical flourish. We are supposed to be a Republic. We vote for representative who in turn vote on laws. There is a different word the type of government in which one person makes the rules. Honestly, I am not sure what the word is for a government in which the people elect a dictator for up to two, four year terms; "Obamaship"?

In fairness, it might not be dead yet. We have just been poisoned with limited time to take an antidote. If this action is not reversed, there is logical or legal limiting factor. The next President can decide not to enforce taxes about 10% per person. They could decide not to enforce certain provisions of the Clean Air Act. They could choose not to enforce any federal gun regulations.

This is not a comment on the policy itself. You can be for or against amnesty, but if you understand the implications of how this is being implemented, you must be against the process.

If you think I am not qualified to make such a call, how about the worlds most famous 'constitutional scholar?

Jonathan Gruber (ObamaCare Architect) on 'Lying/Tricking Stupid Americans to Get ObamaCare Passed'

Of course, when the first video came out it was 'out of context' or the famous 'speak-o'. When the second clip surfaces; and now the third...

Happy Veterans Day

The day the guns fell silent on the war to end all wars. The tactics change, the weapons change, the reasons change, but the selfless heroism of those fighting to protect the weak and preserve our freedoms remain.

Obama’s Makes Proposal to Regulate The Internet

The government trying to 'fix' something that is not and may never be a problem; sounds like something that will not end well.

http://hotair.com/archives/2014/11/10/an-era-of-compromise-deferred-obama-backs-liberal-wish-list-policy-of-net-neutrality

"The stated aim of this proposal is to prevent the formation of internet “fast lanes,” which would allow service providers to create pathways through which major services get priority access to bandwidth while smaller firms do not enjoy the same priority speeds.

The White House is putting pressure on the FCC to embrace Net Neutrality:

Obama conceded in his statement, however, that he cannot order the FCC to impose new rules on internet providers. “The FCC is an independent agency, and ultimately the decision is theirs alone,” the president said. “But the public has already commented nearly 4 million times asking that consumers — not the cable company — gets to decide which sites they use.”
...
Republicans seeking to capitalize on their midterm victories have already expressed their intention to overhaul the nation’s web and television regulations in order to create a more streamlined regime. According to a report in The Hill, the largest barrier to the Republicans’ hopes for reforming communications regulations is the long-floated Net Neutrality proposal now backed by the White House.

Virus That 'Makes Humans More Stupid' Discovered

How long until we can send the necessary medication to DC (though, they may have an incurable strain over there)...

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/virus-that-makes-humans-more-stupid-discovered-9849920.html

"A virus that infects human brains and makes us more stupid has been discovered, according to scientists in the US.

The algae virus, never before observed in healthy people, was found to affect cognitive functions including visual processing and spatial awareness.

Scientists at Johns Hopkins Medical School and the University of Nebraska stumbled upon the discovery when they were undertaking an unrelated study into throat microbes.

Surprisingly, the researchers found DNA in the throats of healthy individuals that matched the DNA of a virus known to infect green algae.

Dr Robert Yolken, a virologist who led the original study, said: “This is a striking example showing that the ‘innocuous’ microorganisms we carry can affect behaviour and cognition.

Obama Nominates Loretta Lynch to be The Next Attorney General

So reoccurs the biannual question after an election; should the people who were just voted out of office vote on non emergent matters. Obviously things change if some sort of emergency presents itself that can not wait. In my opinion, they should not.

http://hotair.com/archives/2014/11/08/why-the-loretta-lynch-nomination-is-absolutely-political

"By now you are doubtless aware that the President called a presser earlier today to officially announce what the cable news networks had been saying for days. His pick for the new Attorney General, replacing the outgoing Eric Holder, is New York U.S. Attorney Loretta Lynch.

If confirmed, Lynch will become the first African-American woman in the job, succeeding Holder, who was the first African-American head of the Justice Department.

“I couldn’t be more proud to nominate Loretta Lynch as our next attorney general,” Obama said during a brief White House ceremony.

The president cited Lynch’s successful efforts as U.S. attorney for eastern New York in prosecuting terrorists, mobsters and Democratic and Republican public officials.

“It’s pretty hard to be more qualified for the job than Loretta,” Obama said.
Watching the coverage leading up to the press conference there was one repeating theme from both the media and Democrat spokespersons. (But I repeat myself.) While there was plenty of touting of Lynch’s various qualifications, the one item which was mentioned so many times that I lost count was the fact that she had previously been twice approved by the Senate. (In 1999 by Clinton and again in 2010 by Obama.) And, these talking heads were studious in pointing out to me, each of those confirmations passed unanimously. (Actually, on a voice vote.)

Just to make sure I was getting the message, the news desk anchors further assured me on multiple occasions that Lynch had prosecuted both Democrats and Republicans. This was apparently critical information, letting me know that she couldn’t possibly be some sort of partisan activist… perish the thought. (Though it should be clear that people from both parties commit crimes, so really that’s only a definition of doing your job.) CNN also trotted out one of her staffers from New York who is – and they Really Really Really want to stress this – a Republican. And her only comment was the fact that she is, indeed, a Republican and Ms. Lynch doesn’t care about such things.

Supreme Court to Hear ObamaCare Subsidies Case

So much for Reid's (D) nuclear option to fill the courts with Democrat/Liberal Judges.

http://www.scotusblog.com/2014/11/court-to-rule-on-health-care-subsidies

"The Supreme Court, moving back into the abiding controversy over the Affordable Care Act, agreed early Friday afternoon to decide how far the federal government can extend its program of subsidies to buyers of health insurance. At issue is whether the program of tax credits applies only in the consumer marketplaces set up by sixteen states, and not at federally operated sites in thirty-four states.

Rather than waiting until Monday to announce its action, which would be the usual mode at this time in the Court year, the Justices released the order granting review of King v. Burwell not long after finishing their closed-door private Conference.

By adding the case to its decision docket at this point, without waiting for further action in lower federal courts, as the Obama administration had asked, the Court ensured that it would rule on the case during the current Term. If it decides to limit the subsidies to the state-run “exchanges,” it is widely understood that that outcome would crash the ACA’s carefully balanced economic arrangements.
