China to Attack India Before 2012? Not Going to Happen
will launch an attack on India before 2012. There are multiple reasons for a desperate Beijing to teach India the final lesson, thereby ensuring Chinese supremacy in Asia in this century" (http://www.ndtv.com/news/india/china_could_attack_india_by_2012_defence_journal.php).
The reasoning is fairly strait forward. Growing unrest in China will cause them to look for something to distract their people with. They also want to strike India before the country grows to powerful and might threaten them. Lastly, attacking a country the West is affiliated with would be a mistake.
The reasoning is also foolish. China is facing growing unrest, but launching a major war will force them to use troops in the conflict that they may currently be using to suppress the unrest. India can also safely be considered an affiliate of the West. The West would likely not take well to China invading any country unprovoked. There is also the slight problem of nuclear annihilation that China would face attacking the nuclear equipped India. Ok, India does not have enough nukes to 'annihilate' China, but they do have enough to kill well north of 100 million people, maybe even closer to half a billion.
China is not going to invade India in the next three years any more then they are going to invade Russia.

Phelps Breaks The 100 Metres Butterfly World Record
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/07/09/sportsline/main5148169.shtml
"Michael Phelps broke the world record in the 100-meter butterfly at the U.S. championships on Thursday, giving him ownership of five individual world marks.
The 14-time Olympic gold medalist swam the two-lap final in 50.22 seconds at the Indiana University Natatorium. He lowered Ian Crocker's mark of 50.40 set at the 2005 world championships in Montreal.
Phelps led at 50 meters with a split of 23.83, just three-tenths off world-record pace. Known for his strong finishes, he pulled clear to beat Tyler McGill, who touched in 51.06. Aaron Peirsol was third in 51.30.
...
Phelps holds world records in the 100 and 200 flys, 200 and 400 individual medleys, and the 200 free."

More on the five Iranian 'Diplomats' by Iran Press TV that Obama just freed (http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2009/07/5-iranian-qods-members-released-by-iraq.html).
"Candidate Declares Iran May Face ‘Disintegration’ . “In an implicit rebuke to Iran’s ruling elite, a conservative presidential candidate warned Sunday that the political and social rifts opened by the disputed June 12 vote and subsequent crackdown could lead to the nation’s ‘disintegration’ if they were not resolved soon.”" (http://pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/81777).
Ahmad Batebi "believes President Barack Obama needs to act more forcefully to put pressure on the regime.
"Obama and Western countries must stop talking in political circles," he said. "Instead they should clearly repeat the following sentence: 'The coup d'etat regime of Iran must step aside and give power to the elected representatives of the people, and if it continues to imprison, shoot and torture people, it will face international consequences.'"" (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/iran/5789372/Exiled-Iranian-student-Ahmad-Batebi-the-face-of-1999-protest-urges-anniversary-unrest.html).
The Iranian authorities are forcing protesters to give up the identity of their friends using social media, and they are good at it (http://www.google.com/notebook/public/02890511943185295863/BDR-OIgoQmd2Y7Lki). This is not the first story about this, and was not surprising when it was. Just take it as another warning to be careful.

Girl Falls In Manhole While Texting, Blames City

Saying Obama Glanced at a Female's Rear is Racist?!?

"Shuster then introduced Carl Frisch, “a senior fellow at Media Matters for America” (as you can see, the MSNBC anchor omitted the left-wing affiliation of the organization), and asked, “Carl, this has been bouncing around all over the conservative blogosphere, conservative networks. What are they doing here?”
...
FRISCH: You know, one of the things that was said on Free Republic was comparing President Obama to Michael Jackson, calling him a pedophile. That’s the length to which this kind of stuff will be twisted....We’re seeing a misconstruction of a photo. To many people online, this has racial overtones. You know, this is like the antiquated racist stereotype of an oversexed black man being a predator, and that’s the way some conservative circles are talking about it online, and that’s unfortunate. And the problem here is that it’s not even true. This didn’t even happen.
...
The only response either Shuster or Hall said in response to the fellow’s inflammatory accusation against conservatives was Hall replying, “Yeah.” Shuster thanked Frisch, and concluded the segment with his own lament/condemnation of the conservative websites"

Public Support For Sotomayor Second-Lowest For a Supreme Court Nominee in 20 Year
http://www.nowhampshire.com/2009/07/10/sotomayor-enters-confirmation-process-with-miers-like-numbers
"Sonia Sotomayor will begin her confirmation hearings next week with some of the highest levels of public opposition of any Supreme Court nominee in the last two decades, according to a new poll by CNN and the Opinion Research Corporation.
sotoIn fact, only one nominee had a higher level of opposition: Harriet Miers, who was appointed by President George W. Bush in 2005. Miers later withdrew her nomination under questions about her qualifications from both the political left and right.
Forty-seven percent of respondents to the poll say they would like to see the U.S. Senate vote to confirm Sotomayor versus forty-percent who say they would not. In the final CNN poll taken before Miers withdrew her nomination, forty-three percent of respondents said the Senate should oppose her confirmation.
No other recent nominee, not even Robert Bork, whose own nomination under President Ronald Reagan was scuttled, faced public opposition this severe."

Obama's Welcome in Africa Similar to Bush's
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2009/07/11/cnn-hosts-smackdown-bush-got-just-warm-welcome-africa-obama
" DON LEMON, ANCHOR CNN NEWSROOM: Nkepile, I was watching you yesterday on the "Situation Room" with Wolf Blitzer when President Obama was arriving, and they were doing the dancing, and all of the people who were running up to him. For a western leader, I know when presidents come over there, they are usually warmly received. But for a western leader, have you ever seen anything like this? Is this unprecedented?
NKEPILE MABUSE, CORRESPONDENT: It's not unprecedented. When President Bush was here, you will remember, in February, there were people who were drumming, there were dances, and President Bush joined some of them. So, it's not unprecedented. This is a truly African welcome that is given to anybody whether they are from Africa or anywhere else in the world, Don.
LEMON: So, they welcome everyone. It doesn't matter. That's just part of how the people do it, right?
MABUSE: Indeed, Don."
Bush vs. Obama Stimulus Plans
http://bizblogger.blogspot.com/2009/07/market-analysis-bush-vs-obama-stimulus.html
"Bush: From March 2003 to October 2003, the S&P 500 went from 835 to 1034 or +23.8%.
Obama: From January 2009 through July 2009, the S&P went from 932 to 879 or -5.2%.
By way of comparison, I also reviewed the market returns a full year prior to these time periods and the results show a very similar situation.
The S&P 500 return under Bush 1-year prior was -26.2%, hurt by the internet bubble collapse, 9/11 and corporate scandals. Trillions of dollars in lost wealth.
The S&P 500 return under Obama 1-year prior was -35.9%, hurt by the housing bubble collapse. Also trillions of dollars in lost wealth.
Both presidents had very similar economic challenges, but the difference in market confidence inspired by the two stimulus plans couldn't be more stark. The market discounted that Bush's plans would return the economy to strong growth, while the market is discounting that Obama's plans will do nothing or even harm the economy's growth."
Iranian Revolution (Day Twenty-Nine)
A hunger strike in the works (http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2009/07/iran-revolution-day-27-mullahs-use-axes-daggers-to-attack-iranian.html)? If the government does not have a problem killing the protesters, I am not sure they are going to have much of a problem with the protesters hurting themselves. It may however get some renewed attention from the world press.
Protests video.
A video at http://shooresh1917.blogspot.com/2009/07/guards-are-speaking-arabic.html is said to be of guards speaking Arabic (not Farsi). If that is the case, it could be evidence that the Iranian authorities are importing thugs to beat down the protesters.
Calls for "International Criminal Court to prosecute the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, for crimes against humanity." (http://shooresh1917.blogspot.com/2009/07/khamenei-must-be-prosecuted-for-crimes.html).
A call from within the Iranian government for tolerance was met with a promise from a different part of the government of violence against the protesters; "A top advisor to Iran's supreme leader Saturday urged the country's establishment to be more tolerant of dissent, even as military officials stepped up their rhetoric in the latest signs of divisions created by the marred reelection of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad one month ago.
...
Providing an unyielding counterpoint, Maj. Gen. Hassan Firoozabadi, the armed forces chief of staff, issued stern warnings against protesters.
"God has chosen us in military uniform to sacrifice our lives against the enemies," he said, according to the Iranian Students News Agency, or ISNA. "Certain individuals and groups imagine that we will back down if they shout slogans against us. We have come to die, and we have proved our determination during the war with Iraq."" Sotomayor Supporters Trying to Smear Ricci
http://www.mcclatchydc.com/227/story/71660.html
"Supporters of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor are quietly targeting the Connecticut firefighter who's at the center of Sotomayor's most controversial ruling.
On the eve of Sotomayor's Senate confirmation hearing, her advocates have been urging journalists to scrutinize what one called the "troubled and litigious work history" of firefighter Frank Ricci.
This is opposition research: a constant shadow on Capitol Hill.
...
"To go after so sympathetic a plaintiff as Frank Ricci . . . is a new low in the politics of personal destruction," said Roger Pilon, the director of the libertarian Cato Institute's Center for Constitutional Studies. "If they were smart, they'd keep a low profile."
Ricci, though, has his own advocates, including conservative commentators such as CNN's Lou Dobbs and Fox's Sean Hannity."
