Al-Jazeera Reports Obama is a Muslim?!?

Al-Jazeera reported that Obama is a Muslim based apparently on a misquote. The misquote was:

""He talked about the contribution of the Islamic faith in the life of American Muslims and then he personalised that message by saying 'I know because I am one of them'. It was a message that reached out to many today....""

They took the "I know because I am one of them" as Obama admitting that he was a Muslim. They apparently disregarded all of Obama's many past statements saying that he was Christian. What Obama actually said was :

"The United States has been enriched by Muslim Americans. Many other Americans have Muslims in their families or have lived in a Muslim-majority country — I know, because I am one of them."

When he says "I am one of them" he is referring to the Americans who have had their lives enriched by Muslim Americans. That is a far cry from saying that he is a Muslim.

One thing I may never understand is how the same people who 'comment' on Obama's years sitting in the pews of Reverend Wright's Church can at the same time say he is Muslim. Despite Al-Jazeera scrubbing their site of this story, do not be surprised if this is used as 'evidence' by those people to push the "Obama is a Muslim" view.
