The captured pirate from the US-flagged Maersk Alabama stand off (Berman Post: Americans Captured by Pirates, Freed by SEALs/Marines: "US-flagged Maersk Alabama") is not in a Manhattan court. It is the first piracy case in US courts in over 100 years. The judge ruled that the pirate will be tried as an adult. The five charges could result in Abduwali Abdukhadir Muse (the pirate) spending the rest of his life in prison.
