Obama to Allow Unlimited Travel And Money Transfers by Cuban Americans to Cuba

Obama is taking steps to ease restrictions on Cuba. His next move will be to allow Cuban Americans unlimited travel to Cuba and money transfers to their families still on the island. He will also allow gift packages to be sent over.

The logic behind the move is to make the Cuban people less reliant on the government since their families will now be able to help them out. Sending money to the Cuban government is still not allowed, but it is unclear how they can assure that money is not sent to them or how to stop the government from just taking money/gifts meant for others.

Obama is keeping the trade embargo in place, likely as a bargaining chip for some future negotiation and concessions.
