Iranian Revolution (Day Forty)

Update (7/23/2009):Berman Post: Iranian Revolution (Day Forty-One). End of Update:

Could a split be forming between Khamenei and Ahmadinejad; "This weekend, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad created a fury among his rapidly declining set of supporters by appointing his son’s father-in-law, Esfandiar Rahim Mashai, as first vice president, a key position within the Iranian government.  Today, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei publicly rebuked the man he claims was divinely granted a victory in a rigged presidential election by reversing the appointment ... However, Ahmadinejad has indicated that he may refuse to follow the “exalted leader,” as Khamenei’s press release calls him, and keep Mashai in place" (http://hotair.com/archives/2009/07/22/a-khamenei-ahmadinejad-split). The beginning of a divestment movement (from Iran) may be picking up (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2009/07/jewish-leaders.html).

Previous source has a clip on the hunger strike being held in view of the United Nations in support of the Iranian protesters.

Iranian authorities may be hoping that Obama will throw them a legitimacy life line (http://www.nypost.com/seven/07222009/postopinion/opedcolumnists/ajad_hoping_for_a_lifeline_from_o_180708.htm). I hope they are waiting a long time (and from prison cells).
