Iranian Revolution (Day Thirty-Nine)

Update (7/22/2009):Berman Post: Iranian Revolution (Day Forty). End of Update:

Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI)to the Iranian authorities "You have no legitimacy either in the eyes of the Iranian people or in the eyes of the civilized world. You are doomed by your own hands. And it is but a matter of time before your regime collapses and the Iranian people breath free" (from his Youtube page http://www.youtube.com/user/RepMcCotter).

CNN talks about the protests. They have a clip of what appears to be security forces shooting indiscriminately at unarmed protesters before running away (http://keepingthechange.blogspot.com/2009/07/reuters-iran-police-detain-protesters.html).

Another video at http://shooresh1917.blogspot.com/2009/07/latest-updates-on-protests-in-iran.html.

While it is still difficult to get the word out, there does seem to have been more protests today (http://www.reuters.com/article/GCA-Iran/idUSTRE56K3YH20090721).

Jason Rezaian believes that "people driving movement, not politicians" (http://tehranbureau.com/people-driving-movement-politicians). I agree, the leadership was conspicuously absent for long enough that without the drive of the people this revolution would have died weeks ago.

Khomeini’s Grandson flees from Iran (http://niacblog.wordpress.com/2009/07/21/khomeini’s-grandson-flees-iran) as word leaks that Mousavi’s brother in law has been detained for a month (http://niacblog.wordpress.com/2009/07/21/rahnavard’s-arrest-kept-secret).
