Iranian Revolution (Day Twenty-Eight)

Update (7/11/2009):Berman Post: Iranian Revolution (Day Twenty-Nine). End of Update:

A good sign, an attempt to placate the protester, or a 'pump fake'? "A senior Iranian cleric says a parliamentary revision of the presidential election law is needed to prevent post-vote unrest in the future." (http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=100318).

The protester seem to be going underground (http://www.economist.com/world/mideast-africa/displaystory.cfm?story_id=13988558). It makes sense. With no real outside support and a murderous 'police force' that will kill you for protesting with impunity despite the likelihood of it being captured on film, your three choices become surrender, die, or take the fight underground. As a true believer and supporter of democracy, I hope if presented with the three choices the revolutionaries chose to go underground.

A reminder that taking pictures/video is a dangerous job (http://niacblog.wordpress.com/2009/07/10/iran-updates-july-10).

A compelling first hand account; (http://raymankojast.blogspot.com/2009/07/tehran-unrest-it-was-nothing-less-than.html)

"We ran away toward the southern alleyways, one out of five houses open their doors for us. We heard shootings - we don't know if the bullets injured anybody. But thereafter the houses were filled with people injured

One person had his arm shattered in different places, another had a broken skulls. As soon as we came out of the houses they continued to use the tear gas and batons. We ran, but it was no use. A young girl and young man were killed in front of us. Know that it was the disciplinary forces that fired the bullets and were attacking people with the batons and tear gas. The plainclothes officers did not have batons, they had planks of wood to beat us to death. The Ansar (special forces) were also there, they took a young guy right in front of us. The police were attacking people; once they targeted someone they would catch them and hit them to death. There were a lot of people lost/disappeared.
...
We were in the red zone and it was nothing less than war. Pray for us."
"

Perhaps one of the only laughable moments in this revolution; "Iran summons the Italian Ambassador to Tehran Alberto Bradanini in protest against the violent suppression of anti-G8 protesters.
...
A Foreign Ministry statement included Iran's "strong condemnation" of the "suppressive actions…which are clear breaches of civil freedoms and fundamentals of democracy."

http://mightierthan.com/rooftop is trying to compile a list of night chant videos with at least one from each night. Head over to the site to see what they have and send them videos you come across that they do not have.
