Second Hand Camera Contained Secret MI6 Documents

Next time you buy a second hand camera, or any memory storage device for that matter, you might what to check for secret documents. That's right, top secret classified documents. You would think that a government intelligence agency would be careful to make sure their information does not fall into the wrong hands. Hopefully your right, but that does not mean there are never any serious mistakes.

Enter a 28 year old delivery man that lives with his mom. He bought a Nikon Coolpix camera for 17 British Pounds on eBay. He took the camera on vacation and happily snapped away totally unaware that their was anything special with his camera. That is until he went home and downloaded his pictures.

While he was browsing through his recently downloaded pictures he saw what anyone would expect to see, his holiday pictures. But then, pictures appeared that he knew he did not take. Next to his holiday pictures were images of missiles and rocket launchers. That is not all, their were also names, fingerprints and suspects' academic records.

Not knowing what to do he asked a friend who suggested he go to the police. The police thought it was a joke and sent him home. A few days later Special Branch (specialist anti-terror officers) descended on his home taking not only the camera and memory stick, but the computer as well. They spent 1,000 British Pounds replacing everything.

The sensitive documents belonged to MI6 (a British intelligence agency). Had the documents fallen into the wrong hands it could have been badly misused.

"A SECOND-HAND camera sold on eBay by a top MI6 agent held secret records used in the fight against al-Qaeda terrorists.

Names, snaps, fingerprints and suspects’ academic records were found in the memory of the digital device.

Alongside them were photos of rocket launchers and missiles which spooks believe Iran is supplying to Osama Bin Laden’s henchmen in Iraq.
