Joe the plumber is becoming a fixture in the McCain campaign. It started with an innocent enough question about taxes (Berman Post: Obama to "Spread The Wealth Around"!?!) and a response about the benefits of spreading the wealth. It is a decent ad for its message, but I think the intentional static takes away from that as it acts as a distraction.
