Gmail Blog - Canned Responses

Do you find yourself typing the same email time and time again? Tired of searching through your sent emails to find a standard response to cut and paste into a new email? Gmail has a solution for you with their new canned responses.

Once you turn on canned responses in Gmail labs, you can save the text of the email you are writing with a custom name. Then, in a new email you can pull up that saved text instead of being forced to retype it or search for it to copy and paste it.

This same feature also lets you set up auto responses using the canned responses with the filters.

"If you're sick of typing out the same reply every time someone emails you with a common question, now you can compose your reply once and save the message text with the "Canned responses" button. Later, you can open that same message and send it again and again.

Gmail already lets you create filters based on a combination of keywords, sender, recipients, and more in your incoming messages. Turn on Canned Responses in Labs, and you can set a filter to grab one of your saved responses, create an automated reply, and hit the Send button for you.
