The SD Card Association has announced a new designation of memory card, SDXC (SD eXtended Capacity). This will far surpass the capacity of the current SDHC memory cards. The SDXC cards will have a memory capacity from 32GB up to 2TB. No word on release dates or pricing. Other small formate memory devices have followed suit, and it is safe to say a new race to the top has began.

This standard will be the specification for SD Memory Cards with capacities more than 32 GB and their host devices. The new cards will provide capacities in the future ranging up to 2 TB at read/write speeds of 300 megabytes per second."
