Johanns Amendment #2355 to H.R. 3288 Passes - Senate Votes to Defunds ACORN Housing

The Senate voted today to defund ACORN's housing branch. This is clearly a direct result of the underage prostitution and tax evasion cover up scandal (see past related posts at the bottom). The vote was 83-7. The seven no votes came from six Democrats and one Independent. Seven Republicans and two Democrats did not vote. The remaining unaccounted for 'vote' is from former Senator Kennedy's seat which has not been filled yet (Berman Post: Senator Ted Kennedy (D) Died: "Kennedy").

In an almost comical move with awesomely bad timing, they were actually asking for more funds. As Ace channels ACORN, the opines; "Hey, Maybe This Isn't The Best Time to Ask, But If You Have Another $6 Million Handy, We'd Like More Money. ... Seriously, they're asking for $6 million more, or at least were before the past several hours caught them up to reality." (http://minx.cc/?post=292290).

WASHINGTON (AP) – The Senate voted Monday to block the Housing and Urban Development Department from giving grants to ACORN, a community organization under fire in several voter-registration fraud cases.The 83-7 vote would deny housing and community grant funding to ACORN, which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now."
