Man Arrested For Being Naked in His Own House

A 29 year old American man was arrested in Virginia after a women cutting across his law looked in his window and saw that he was naked. He was naked in his own home, not intentionally flashing anyone. Here is what I think this case may come down to, would someone have been able to clearly see him from a public street. If not, then the new rule/law would be that trespassers have a right to not be exposed to the legal residents nudity!?! It is hard to even express what such a rule would mean. How would that be any different then someone breaking into your house to rob you, catching you and your significant other having 'relations', and then calling the cops on your for indecent exposure? You could draw the line and what is visible from outside the house; but then the 'peeping tom' would be doing nothing wrong, and after getting an 'eye full' could call the cops on you.

"A spokesman for Fairfax county police, Mary Ann Jennings, said Williamson was arrested because officers believed he wanted to be seen naked by the public.

The 29-year-old faces up to a year in jail and a $2,000 fine if he is convicted. He is fighting the charge and seeking damages from police.

Tiger Hawk links to a great little thought experiment:

"In addition to wondering what the hell the world is coming to when a trespasser calls the cops on somebody standing in his own kitchen in whatever state of dress or undress, Michelle Catalano poses an interesting thought experiment:

What if the tables were turned? What if Williamson were a woman and a man walked by the house instead of a woman? What if that man happened to look into the window, staring long enough to see that the woman inside was naked? Would he call the cops to say he was flashed? Probably not, because he would end up in handcuffs for being a peeping Tom. A woman looks in on a naked man and thinks he is committing a crime. A man looks in on a naked woman and she thinks he is committing a crime. Weird how that works.

Discuss among yourselves with as much wit as you can muster.
