Details From Lara Logan (CBS) Sexual Assault Emerge

Details of the sexual assault (perpetrated in part because they thought she was Jewish) Sexual assault against Logan are starting to filter through and as you could image they are not pretty. She was stripped, pinched, punched, and beat with flag poles. Not exactly the best start to what will hopefully be an emerging western-style democracy.

"New details have emerged about Lara Logan’s brutal attack in Egypt, including that she was stripped, repeatedly punched and slapped and pinched so hard that sensitive parts of her body were covered in red marks, according to a new report.

Wounds on her body were consistent with being hit by the poles that demonstrators were using to fly flags, London's Sunday Times reported.

Logan, a CBS foreign correspondent, was taken to the Four Seasons hotel, treated and sedated and then flown out of the country. She's still recovering at her Washington home.

  1. What does laura Logan being raped have to do with whether or not Egypt will be a "western style democracy"? unless your a bigot who casts prejudice on entire groups of people because of the actions of a few?

If by "western style democracy" you mean another dictator who does whatever israel and the united states want it to do, then you can bet that Egypt will not be a "western style democracy". It will hopefully be a democracy that actually represents the aspirations of the egyptian people and has nothing whatsoever to do with you.

Funny, on this website you seem so eager to cheer on the protestors in Iran and Libya, but those in Egypt are suspect to you, and you have posted nothing about the protests going on in Iraq against the latest US installed dicatator Maliki. Hardly anything about Bahrain, Jordan. To say nothing of the growing protests in the palestinian terrortires that the PA with the help of Israel is quashing.

Youll have to excuse me if it seems like you are a hypocrite. you like it when Muslim people are being oppressed by people you like (Mubarack, Bahrain, Israel). It is only when the dictators don't do what it is that you want them to do that you have a bizarre obsession, like Iran.

Do the people of the middle east a favor, and stop offering your opinion on how other people who have nothing to do with you should live their lives if your opinion is so obviously racist.

  2. @Anonymous - First off; I always admire the bravery of those who throw baseless accusations against others behind the cloak of anonymity...

"What does laura Logan being raped have to do with whether or not Egypt will be a "western style democracy"?" - nothing, nor did I even hint it would have an impact in either direction, but it is certainly an inauspicious start.

"unless your a bigot who casts prejudice on entire groups of people because of the actions of a few?" - not sure where you see bigotry here; but as I said just above it has little impact on the outcome.

"If by "western style democracy" you mean another dictator" - nope; I mean Democracy (or Republic or other form of representative government). That is why I used the word 'Democracy' instead of dictator/monarch/oligarchy/aristocracy... .

"It will hopefully be a democracy that actually represents the aspirations of the egyptian people and has nothing whatsoever to do with you." - I am not sure why the entire country would vote for some sort of law that would in some way 'exclude me from having anything to do with them' but to the extent that does not interfere with my rights here in the United States; while bewildered, I think I would respect that. If you are speaking more generally; I would still hope that Egypt would chose not to isolate itself from the rest of the world; but again, to the extent at which it does not interfere with the rest of the world that decision would likely be respected.

"Funny, on this website you seem so eager to cheer on the protestors in Iran and Libya, but those in Egypt are suspect to you" - I disagree with that assessment, and have to assume that you have not read any of my other posts if that is the conclusion you claim to have drawn. I am a big proponent of Democracy but am not foolish enough to think that Democracy necessarily will always lead to good outcomes, especially if some try to use the democracy to usurp it (ex. 'one man, one vote, one time'). Those are not contradictory positions.

"Youll have to excuse me if it seems like you are a hypocrite. you like it when Muslim people are being oppressed by people you like (Mubarack, Bahrain, Israel). Its cute how you make up facts, and then use those facts as some sort of evidence against me. I encourage you to actually read what I write before forming opinions or drawing conclusions from it.

"Do the people of the middle east a favor, and stop offering your opinion on how other people who have nothing to do with you should live their lives if your opinion is so obviously racist." - Thankfully, I live in a country where I am free to express my opinions. If you find them so offensive you are free not to read them. There is even the options to counter what I am saying in the comments I leave open (even to those not confident enough in their opinions to attach their identity to them). How on earth did you glean even a hint of racism let alone 'obvious racism'.

You should feel free to respond to any of these points, but I encourage you to enter the real world before doing so. Obviously it is not a requirement as proven by your first comment.
