Chaos Reigns in Haiti

Despite the best efforts of Twitter, Facebook, Google, and the rest of the world to aid Haiti after the 7.0 Earthquake decimated their already poor country initially feared to have killed up to 500,000 people and confirmed to have killed more UN personal then any other single incident on record, chaos has griped the nation. Gangs have been seen roaming the streets looting anything they can carry armed with machetes. With no government or law enforcement, the gangs are fighting each other for control and supplies. The body count from the earthquake and fighting has gotten severe enough that corpses are being piled on top of each other to make road blocks; which in tern is making the relief effort all the more difficult.

In all the death an despair there are glimmers of hope such as this young girl being pulled out of the rubble alive. Scenes like this are so joyous if only because the alternative, and alternative that has played out far to often, is so much worse.
