Chinese Government Indefinitely Postpone Green Dam

The Chinese government indefinitely postponed Green Dam. That was the policy to force every computer sold in China to have special censoring software. Many groups, companies, and government officials had spoken out against it. In the end it was probobly the impracticality of the rather hurried program that caused the recent decision, not the outcry. While it is good news that the program was indefinitely postponed, if the reason was impracticality then they could try again in the near future.

"In a very unexpected move, the Chinese authorities have indefinitely postponed their order that all PCs sold in the country must come with software, called Green Dam Youth Escort, that blocks certain websites."

So much for the battle royal between Anonymous and the Chinese government censors (Berman Post: Anonymous Declares War on Chinese Internet Censorship).
