Michael Phelps was suspended from competition by USA Swimming for three months. USA Swimming is The sport's national governing body. For the same three month period, they have cut off financial support to Phelps. There are no numbers given on exactly how much money he lost from USA Swimming, but it seems safe to assume that he is really not going to feel it. Phelps has accepted the punishment.
