Bailout Bill Cloture Vote Passes 61 to 36

The Bailout bill has passed its main hurtle with a successful cloture vote. It passed 61 to 36. You can see the vote breakdown at http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=111&session=1&vote=00059, but to make is easier for you Collins (R-ME), Snowe (R-ME), and Specter (R-PA) were the Republican defectors with Cornyn (R-TX) and Gregg (R-NH) not voting. The official vote will take place tomorrow with similar voting line likely. After that the two versions of the bill (House and Senate) have to be reconciled before a final vote to pass it. The vote on the reconciled bill will be the Republicans next best chance to stop it. For the best visual representation of the bill I have seen thus far, head over to http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/graphic/2009/02/01/GR2009020100154.html.
