Norman Borlaug, Father of The Green (Agricultural ) Revolution, Has Died
Reason's headline says it all; "Norman Borlaug: The Man Who Saved More Human Lives Than Any Other Has Died" (http://www.reason.com/blog/show/136043.html). Norman Borlaug would place, should a poll of this nature be possible, as one of the most important people few have ever heard of. His importance is hard to underscore. Before Borlaug, it generally accepted/feared that unchecked population growth would lead to mass starvation. The question was exactly how many people the earth could support. After Borlaug, the problem of malnutrition was replaced with the problem of obesity; and in a time span short enough that a people lived through the entire shift. Indeed, you could probably ask your oldest relative about it if you did not live through it yourself. Head to the link above to read more.
