'Sexting' Leads to a Suicide

'Sexting', the act of sending nude photos of yourself to another via text message, has exploded in popularity. Some surveys show that 1 in 5 teenagers have admitted to sexting. Now, sexting is being blamed for a suicide. The girl who committed suicide had sent a naked picture to her boyfriend, the two broke up and the picture spread throughout the school. The bullying and teasing followed soon after. She even went on the news a few months ago to warn others against the practice anonymously. This is the unfortunate conclusion to her saga.

There are a few interesting legal issues here as well. Can you be arrested for child pornography if someone sends you a photo against your will and fail to permanently delete it properly? One boy was arrested after receiving a photo, but it was not clear from the story if he tried to delete it or even realized it was still on his phone.
