So begins the positive end to an ordeal that no one on the face of the earth (or under it) had ever experienced. Three dozen miners trapped underground after a cave in deeper and for longer then anyone else ever has. By the time the last man is pulled it may cross into day 70, trapped a half mile below the surface.

"The first of 33 Chilean miners returned to the surface in an escape capsule late Tuesday after being trapped a half-mile underground for 69 days.
Florencio Avalos stepped out of a rescue capsule amid sobs from his young son and received a bracing bear hug from Chilean President Sebastian Pinera.
Avalos smiled widely as he hugged rescuers, then Pinera, as his wife, two sons and father looked on. His 7-year-old son Bairo sobbed, as did Chile's first lady, Cecilia Morel. Then Avalos was escorted into a medical triage center for the first of a battery of tests. Cheers of "Chi Chi Chi, Le Le Le!" broke out."
