  3. @Ian Dubrowsky - What are you counting Piven incidents? I see, random incidents that you can not tie to people you disagree with politically but want to imagine are their fault.

  4. @Ian Dubrowsky - by 'targeting' (a word I thought was not supposed to be used any more) you/they mean quoting accurately?

Oh so the guy who tried to shoot up the ACLU and openly cites beck as an inspiration is in my imagination? Got it, another one of a dozen or so "isolated incidents" I guess.

Glen beck isn't targeting an obscure leftist academic? Oh right those democracy now people are so biased....

    This is demagogy.

  7. @Ian dubrowsky - there are well over 300 million people in this country. That means there will be a few nut jobs. Just because someone claims that aliens that live at the center of the sun sent them a message that if they did not kill someone all humanity would come to an end does not mean it is so. You need to be able to point to something specific; you know, cash in on the $100k if you can.

    Which part is demagogy?

I just did point to something specific and as the norm with you, you just ignore something when it does not fit in your worldview. I mean, here we have a guy saying, yup, Im going to kill people because glenn beck has led me to believe it is the right thing to do and yet you still want to rationalize that away. it figures honestly. it's part and parcel of why Glenn Beck is so popular with white supremacist movements in the United States, because they all believe things that are insane and conspiratorial.

We are not living in a country where people are going out killing because of alien theories, we are living in a country where people are increasingly willing to do violence because of equally false theories put forward by people like glenn beck and sarah palin. There has never been a "left wing" equivalent of that kind in the united states. Even in it's hey dey, the weather underground was never trying to kill people, and only ever killed themselves in botched bombings.

the part where you insinuate Piven, an obscure leftist academic, is a threat to the country- odd considering you buttress politicians who do things that actually do hurt the country... anyway replace everytime glen beck says "left", "progressive" or "liberal" with "jew" and maybe the character of Mr Beck will be clearer to you.

like if we were discussing this :

would you then say at the heart of the matter lies just some hopelessly insane individuals that has nothing whatsoever to do with politics?
