Obama Caught Badmouthing Netanyahu (Israel's Prime Minister) on a Hot Mic

Obama may have just sparked another international incident, this time with the help of Sarkozy instead of at his expense.

As troubling as that incident was, there is another thread here, that the journalists present signed an agreement not to report on anything embarrassing. There was apparently also some collusion to keep the comment quite. The job of the media is not to protect the political class, or at least is is not supposed to be...

"The conversation then drifted to Netanyahu, at which time Sarkozy declared: "I cannot stand him. He is a liar." According to the report, Obama replied: "You're fed up with him, but I have to deal with him every day!"

The remark was naturally meant to be said in confidence, but the two leaders' microphones were accidently left on, making the would-be private comment embarrassingly public.

The communication faux pas went unnoticed for several minutes, during which the conversation between the two heads of state Рwhich quickly reverted to other matters Рwas all but open to members the press, who were still in possession of headsets provided by the Elys̩e for the sake of simultaneous translation during the G20 press conference.

The surprising lack of coverage may be explained by a report alleging that reporters present at the event were requested to sign an agreement to keep mum on the subject of the embarrassing comments.

A member of the media confirmed Monday that "there were discussions between journalists and they agreed not to publish the comments due to the sensitivity of the issue."

  1. Today's comments about Obama's disdain for Netanyahu should be evidence enough for American Jews that their president has no interest in helping Israel.

What surprises me is the number of self-hating Jews who continue to support a president and his party who has the interest of the Palestinians at heart and who hold Israel in such low regard. It's time for American Jews to walk away from the democrat party.
