Egypt to Strip Citizens Married to Israelis Jew of Their Citizenship; Their Children Too

Replace Egypt with Israel and imagine what how loud the outcry will be. I would not doubt that some on the left will actually praise this as an 'appropriate response to all of Israel's transgressions'.

"A Cairo court on Saturday upheld a ruling to strip Egyptian men married to Israeli women of their citizenship in a case that has highlighted national sentiment towards Israel.

Judge Mohammed al-Husseini, sitting on the Supreme Administrative Court, said the interior ministry must ask the cabinet to take the necessary steps to strip Egyptian men married to Israeli women, and their children, of their citizenship.

The court said that each case should be considered separately, in a ruling that cannot be appealed.

The ruling reflects Egyptian sentiment towards Israel, more than 30 years after Egypt signed an unpopular peace deal with the Jewish state.

Before reading the verdict, Husseini said the case would not apply to Egyptian men married to Arab Israeli women.

  1. There are Israeli politicians who want to do just that with Israeli's and Palestinians, some of them in the highest positions of government. Will you blog about that?

I don't think you have the foggiest idea what the "left" is (you think Barack Obama is left wing after all, although really nothing about his poilcies would really lend that notion any credibility) , but I can tell you from myself that this kind of thing on behalf of the Egyptian government is part and parcel of why the United States is wrong to support authoritarian, corrupt regimes- whether it is Egypt or Israel. If anyone is actually saying as you would in response to this who is "left" by all means let me know I can use I good laugh.

Your attempts to tie the "left" with anti-semitisim are tired, cliche and frankly troubling. It's a common authoritarian tactic to tie crticics of power in with actual enemies of people. Israel has for decades been trying to tie what is called "left" critisicm with anti-semitism. People who accept thse kinds of lies do do so out of fear I guess. So even if Helen Thomas makes an awkward comment (as if that is supposed to mean anything) she appears on your blog. But when Israel maliciously asserts that the Flotilla was tied with Al-Qaeda, and then walks back those lies days later- no matter, it still comes up on your site if it means you can help propagate whatever it is the Israeli's do- which you would think would be of considerable concern to you considering 1) you are an American 2) blid advocacy like this actually hurts Israel.

  2. @Ian Spencer Dubrowsky - "There are Israeli politicians who want to do just that with Israeli's and Palestinians, some of them in the highest positions of government. Will you blog about that?" -> Yes; if the Israelis strip their citizens of citizenship just because of the nationality of the person they marry I would blog about that (in disapproval of course).

You have not said anything that proved what I said wrong, still waiting for the condemnation of Egypt that should accompany such a move that if you really want to argue is not 'generally anti-Semitic' you must at least admit is 'anti-Semitic to Israeli Jews'.
