Pelosi Wins Minority Leader Position

The result was never really in doubt. The decision, while pretty decisive in Pelosi's favor, was far from a shut out.

In a nearly six-hour marathon, closed-door meeting of House Democrats on Wednesday, Pelosi wrapped up the votes for minority leader to easily defeat a quixotic challenge by North Carolina Rep. Heath Shuler, winning 150 votes to Shuler’s 43.

But the 43 votes against her reveal that a divided caucus — still reeling from the loss of at least 61 seats — will not be as pliable for the California Democrat as it once was.
