Obama Administration Takes Credit For Both Upping Spending And Being Fiscally Responsible; Getting Tough And Being Prudent

The Obama administration a day apart announced plans to both increase spending on the Mexican drug war and reduce the amount of money currently being spent. Taking credit for both contradictory moves and so far getting away with it; interesting...

"From the New York Times: “MEXICO CITY — The United States will withhold about $26 million promised for Mexico’s drug war because of concerns that the country has not done enough to protect its people from police and military abuse. ...

From the Los Angeles Times: “Reporting from Washington — The Obama administration is considering a substantial spending increase on the Mexican drug war ...

I can reconcile these two seemingly conflicting reports.

The administration is going to budget more money — a gajillion dollars — for fighting the drug banditos to show it is getting tough and then to show it is super-dooper tough, withhold the money.

As an added bonus, it can then say it saved taxpayers a gajillion dollars.
